"Allan Horlick has written a classic coming-of-age story about men learning to be men. In the vein of Richard Ford, he takes you on a journey with plenty of laughs, a few tears, and a flash of recognition."

The Book

The gift that Joshua Brown receives from his father is a desperately needed understanding that every minute of our lives is precious, but never more so than when we are with the people we love. Magically though, this gift comes to Josh more than twenty-five years after the sudden death of his father.

Since that fateful day, Josh has become a successful thirty-six year old executive, but sadly he has also become a man who hasn’t let anyone into his heart, not even his wife or children. Then one day, Josh’s carefully crafted life takes a surprising twist when he meets a stranger who he comes to believe is the father that he’d lost more than twenty-five years earlier!

“Rabbit’s Foot” is an inspirational and welcome bit of relief from these challenging times, providing a greater appreciation for the most important things in life.

What people are saying…

Remember the classic line in the movie “As Good As It Gets” when Helen Hunt tells Jack Nicholson, “Give me a compliment.” He says, “I like your dress.” She says, “No, give me a real compliment.” He thinks about it and then bursts out with, “You make me want to be a better man.” This book makes you want to be a better person and parent. The saga sweeps you up and keep the pages turning. And wait until you read the surprise “Sixth Sense” ending. If you like Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie), Jacqueline Mitchard (Oprah’s first pick – The Deep End of the Ocean), and NicholasSparks(Message in a Bottle and The Notebook); you’ll love this novel. Read it and reap.

Wow!  What an intriguing read!  From the moment I picked it up, until the very last word…I was hooked! I highly recommend this book. It will remind you what is really important in life!
